Imaginary V Book Cover (Fun with Photoshop)
I started watching ABC's new version of V out of a mix of nostalgia for the old series and curiosity about how they'd update it. Why I've continued to watch it I'm not really sure. Although the series showed some promise in the beginning and occasionally throughout, it's been pretty consistently goofy. I don't intend to critique the show here, but just want to give a little background for this Photoshop exercise.
A few episodes before the season two finale (or is it series finale?) the show detoured into a new kind of goofy, leaping across the aisle, so to speak, from genre sci-fi into bodice-ripping pulp romance between characters Erica and Hobbes. And that bit of silliness inspired me to imagine a book cover conveying the show's new direction.
This is a quickie Photoshop paste-up job so it's made out of other people's photos and artwork, culled from Google. Charles Mesure and Elizabeth Mitchell are pasted over the original faces on real romance novel book cover art. For that reason, I'm not claiming a copyright on the final image – I just made it for fun! (although if you borrow it I wouldn't mind credit for the Photoshopping).
For some added fun, I simulated a dog-eared old pocketbook:
